Food, beverage & personal care
Packaging and processing lines need repeatable product handling while managing many SKUs. Hollow pins provide mounting locations for pushers, rods and carriers that can be changed as the line evolves.
Mexico market
Mexico’s current machinery market combines packaging investment in food, beverage and personal care with broader nearshoring-driven factory expansion. PMMI’s 2026 research highlights phased automation, labor-cost pressure, digital tools, sustainability rules and capacity growth—conditions that reward conveyor components that are easy to specify, service and repeat-order.

PMMI’s May 2026 Mexico market report uses 2025 customs data plus 106 CPG surveys and 40+ interviews.
Current machinery demand is concentrated in food, beverage and personal-care sectors.
Capacity expansion linked to nearshoring remains an important driver for machinery and automation projects.
Buyers are evaluating phased automation, vision, predictive maintenance and other digital tools.
Packaging and processing lines need repeatable product handling while managing many SKUs. Hollow pins provide mounting locations for pushers, rods and carriers that can be changed as the line evolves.
New or expanded plants may use fixture conveyors for components, appliance subassemblies or other manufactured products. Here the important questions are carrier geometry, load position, indexing and spare-part standardization.
Mexico’s installed base includes machinery from North America, Europe and Asia. An RFQ may therefore use inch or metric dimensions. Preserve the original model and clearly identify units when checking an interchange.
Circular-economy requirements and packaging-material changes can trigger line modifications. Modular carriers and removable attachments help adapt a conveyor without replacing the entire chain system.
When a manufacturer adds several similar lines across Mexico, the chain should be documented as a repeatable spare, not rediscovered after commissioning. Record the approved model, number of pitches, attachment drawing, sprocket data and recommended spare quantity. If a machine is duplicated between plants, confirm whether the chain must be identical or whether local guide, guard or carrier differences change the required pin projection.
Mexico also receives machinery built to different regional standards and unit systems. A U.S.-designed machine may use inch dimensions while an Italian, German or Japanese machine is metric. Do not round the measured pitch to the nearest familiar chain size. Measure several links and compare all dimensions, including the hollow bore and roller geometry, before assuming interchange.
| Requirement | Good starting family | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Compact packaging equipment | Short-Pitch | Pitch, format-change carrier spacing, small sprockets and speed |
| General CPG conveyor | MC Series | Bore, roller style, guide rail, pin projection and spares |
| Wide cross-rod / process conveyor | FVC Series | Strand spacing, carrier load, matched chains and environment |
| Assembly / custom handling | ZC Series | Fixture geometry, machine envelope, guide support and sprocket |
| Wet food / beverage zone | Stainless Steel | Material grade, cleaner exposure, lubrication and load |
State the plant location, machine type, original chain model if available, required quantity and whether the order is for emergency maintenance, planned spares or a new line. Provide pitch, hollow bore, inner width, roller size, pin projection and sprocket tooth count. Add a drawing of the cross rod or carrier and explain whether the chain runs in dust, humidity, washdown, heat or contact with process chemicals.
Mexico’s manufacturing investment includes new capacity as well as expansions inside existing plants. A new line may be designed entirely in metric dimensions, while an older U.S.-origin machine nearby may use inch-based components. For hollow-pin chain replacement, identify the machine origin and units before comparing models. Never convert a worn pitch by eye; measure several pitches and confirm the sprocket tooth count and chain width.
PMMI’s 2026 Mexico research identifies food, beverage and personal care as important packaging machinery markets and notes phased automation, digital tools and capacity expansion linked to nearshoring. For conveyor buyers, this often means upgrading one section of a line without replacing the full machine. In that situation, chain interchange must preserve sprocket, guide and attachment interfaces so the retrofit stays within the intended shutdown window.
Beverage and food plants can expose conveyors to water, product residue and cleaning chemicals. Tell us whether the chain sits in primary processing, transfer, secondary packaging or pallet-related handling. The same factory can need stainless hollow-pin chain in a wet zone and a standard steel family in a dry packaging area. State the cleaning method, lubricant restrictions and daily run time so the material choice reflects actual service.
High utilization also makes spare planning important. Include the number of chains per machine, finished length or pitch count, connection arrangement and whether two strands must be matched. If the existing sprocket shows hooked teeth or uneven wear, plan to inspect or replace it with the chain rather than forcing a new chain onto a damaged profile.
Plants serving several brands or export destinations may run many pack formats. Hollow pins can support changeable carriers, pushers and cross rods, but the attachment hardware should be designed for quick, repeatable setup. Share the smallest and largest product format, carrier pitch and changeover frequency. If a rod bridges two chains, provide strand spacing and product load so rod deflection and side load can be reviewed.
Factories connected to U.S. supply chains often benefit from documentation that can be read by teams on both sides of the border. Record critical dimensions with units, keep a drawing revision, and store the chain model together with the machine asset number. This is especially valuable when purchasing, maintenance and machine engineering are located in different facilities.
Include the chain model or measured dimensions, attachment or cross-rod drawing, sprocket information, operating speed and load, environment, quantity and delivery destination. We can review a new-machine requirement or a replacement chain.
